2 Filipinos, 4 Chinese nationals allegedly abduct victim over debt

MANILA, Philippines — Two Filipino men and four Chinese nationals were arrested in Makati City on Wednesday night for allegedly abducting a Chinese national for supposedly failing to repay his debt, police said Thursday.

An initial report from Makati police chief Col. Rogelio Simon identified the Filipino suspects as Jay Maris Herminio, 34, and Arnil Cortes, 38. The Chinese suspects were identified as La Jiao, 25, Yang Yang, 26, Ji Mu, 29, and Wen Lin, 24.

Police said victim Huang Wei, 31, was sleeping inside his house in Barangay Pio Del Pilar when the suspects barged in and allegedly forced the victim into their vehicle at 8:30 p.m.

While onboard the vehicle, the suspects started beating harmed Huang, who then sustained multiple injuries in his body.

Policemen and barangay officials near the area later arrested the suspects and brought to the police station.

In a text message, Maj. Gideon Ines Jr., Makati police investigation chief, said the suspects allegedly abducted Huang because the latter failed to repay his debt.

The suspects are detained in Makati police station and will be facing abduction and physical injury charges.

Ines said they are still looking into the status of the foreign suspects as the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
