Jail visits suspended temporarily in five regions

MANILA, Philippines — Jail officials on Wednesday said it was temporarily suspending visitation to jails in five regions to ensure the safety of prisoners from COVID-19.

Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) spokesperson Chief Insp. Xavier Solda said that effective noon of Wednesday, the following jails will not be accepting visitors: jails in Metro Manila, the Ilocos and Davao regions, as well as those in Bulacan; the Angeles City district jail and women’s jails in Pampanga; the Cabanatuan City district jail; the Talavera and San Jose City jails in Nueva Ecija; all BJMP detention facilities in Cavite; the Cainta, Binangonan and Antipolo City jails in Rizal; and the jails in Cabuyao, Calamba and San Pablo in Laguna.
