Cagayan anti-drug intel cop slain in gun attack
TUGUEGARAO CITY–A police officer was shot dead by motorcycle-riding assailants in Enrile town, Cagayan province late Tuesday (March 10).
Col. Ariel Quilang, Cagayan police director, identified the officer as SSgt. Alvin Anog who had been assigned to the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit.
Quilang has formed a Special Investigation Task Force to solve the attack as “persons of interest” had already been identified.
As an intelligence member of the Philippine National Police, Anog had been tracking down drug dealers and criminals, investigators said.
Quilang fell into an irrigation canal after he was shot by the unidentified gunmen at the village of San Roque at 10 p.m. He died while being taken to a hospital, police said.
