SAN PEDRO CITY –– The province of Rizal announced on Wednesday the suspension of classes to give way to the sanitation of school buildings and abate the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In a memorandum, Rizal Governor Rebecca Ynares said classes in all levels were suspended from March 12 to 19 “due to the emerging threat” of the virus.
“This is also to prevent sustained community transmission and to minimize movement of persons/students and possible spread of the disease,” it added.
Earlier, the towns of Taytay and Cainta in Rizal suspended classes after recording cases of the virus infection.
Rizal, which lies near the National Capital Region, is the second province in Calabarzon to do so days after Cavite also implemented a class suspension.
