Lucena intensifies measures vs COVID-19
LUCENA CITY –– The local government of Lucena has strengthened its capability to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the locality.
In his Facebook page, Arnel Avila, Lucena public information officer, showed photos of the newly acquired thermal gun, disinfectant sprayers, personal protection equipment, and an ambulance purposely for suspected virus patients from the city.
He assured city hall employees and visitors that the use of thermal scanners to all who want to enter the building was for public protection to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“The use of the thermal scanner may cause delay to all who want to transact at the city hall building, but everyone must follow to protect them from the disease,” Avila said in Filipino.
Lucena Mayor Roderick Alcala has also ordered the City Health Office to intensify its monitoring and surveillance of possible COVID-19 patients in the city.
In an earlier interview, Avila said the local health authorities down to barangay health workers have been tasked to continuously conduct surveillance and monitoring, particularly among city natives who came from abroad with confirmed COVID-19 cases.

As of Tuesday, Quezon province remained COVID-19-free.
