4.4 magnitude quake rattles parts of Eastern Visayas
TACLOBAN CITY – A magnitude 4.4 earthquake shook parts of the provinces of Leyte, Biliran, and Eastern Samar at 1:16 a.m. on Wednesday.
The tremor, which was of tectonic in origin, was traced to Capoocan town in Leyte, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake was felt in Capoocan at Intensity IV, Cabucgayan in Biliran province at Intensity III, Ormoc City, Leyte at Intensity II and Palo in Leyte, Borongan City in Eastern Samar and Cebu City at Intensity I.
Damage to infrastructure is not expected, Phivolcs added.
