MANILA, Philippines — Adoracion Villanueva, wife of Brother Eddie and mother of Sen. Joel Villanueva passed away Tuesday afternoon. She was 73.
In an Instagram post Tuesday night, the senator shared a photo of his hand holding that of her mother’s.
He captioned the photo with: “Paalam sa pinakamamahal ko sa lahat ng mahal 🙏 ‘the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.’” Job 1:21
In a Twitter post, Jesus Is Lord Church described her as “a spiritual mother, a competent teacher, a prayer warrior, and a model of faith.”
“After going through fatal arrhythmia secondary to septic shock, Ate Dory is now resting in the arms of her Maker and Savior,” its tweet read.

Sen. Sonny Angara expressed his condolences to Villanueva’s family over the passing of its matriarch.
