Laguna village chief shot dead at home

SAN PEDRO CITY – A barangay (village) captain was killed inside his home in Mabitac, Laguna past midnight on Tuesday.

The victim was identified by police as Alfredo Facundo, 50, captain of Barangay Lucong.

A report from the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) police, said the still-unidentified gunman forcibly entered Facundo’s house and shot the unsuspecting victim who was at that time was eating dinner at around 12:30 a.m., based on the initial police investigation.

Police said the suspect immediately fled after the shooting.

Facundo was rushed to the Laguna provincial hospital but he was declared on arrival.

Police recovered several empty shells and a gun silencer at the scene. The case remains under investigation.
