KIDAPAWAN CITY—-A militiaman was shot dead on Sunday (March 8) by his colleague following a heated argument at a checkpoint in Arakan town, Cotabato province.
Capt. Gaspar Maguiwe, Arakan police chief, identified the slain member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) as Ronnie Inuyog, and the suspect as Demmer Sulaimay.
Both are residents of Libertad village and assigned to a military detachment in Dallag village.
Maguiwe said police found half-empty bottles of liquor inside the detachment which indicated that the militiamen had been drinking.
Around 10 p.m., an argument ensued between Inuyog and another militiaman. Cafgu member Sulaimay tried to pacify the two but Inuyog was irked by his interference.
Inuyog allegedly berated Sulaimay, forcing Sulaimay to shoot him using his Carbine rifle. Inuyog died on the spot while Sulaimay surrendered to Arakan police with his rifle.
Police are now preparing charges of murder against Sulaimay.
