MANILA, Philippines — One of the high-ranking police generals who suffered serious injuries in a helicopter crash in Laguna is still alive and is seeking treatment at the hospital in Laguna, Philippine National Police (PNP) acting spokesman said.

Maj. Gen. Jose Maria Ramos was “successfully resuscitated” and “still fighting,” according to Maj. Gen. Benigno Durana, PNP acting spokesman, who is also the director of the PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR).

This is contrary to earlier reports that Ramos, director for comptrollership, has died after succumbing to his injuries in the crash.

In a phone interview with INQUIRER.net, Durana said he received information from the hospital.

He also confirmed that the patient was transferred from  Unihealth Southwoods Hospital and Medical Center in Laguna to Asian Hospital Medical Center in Muntinlupa City.

Passengers who were injured in the crash in Barangay San Antonio in San Pedro town were PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa and seven others.

The chief of the nation’s police force and his aide were discharged from St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig.
