MANILA, Philippines — Navotas City has announced the suspension of classes from kindergarten to college levels on Monday, March 9, amid the threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

So far, the Philippines has five confirmed cases of the deadly disease.

“#walangpasok sa Lunes March 9,2020 sa lahat ng antas magmula kindergarten hangang college, sa lahat ng paaralan sa #navotas both public and private,” Navotas City mayor Toby Tiangco announced on his Facebook page on Saturday.

(No classes on Monday, March 9, 2020, in all levels from Kindergarten to College, in all public and private schools.)

“At ako ay nakikiusap sa #deped na automatic passing para sa lahat ng estudyante for this school year dahil sa #COVIDー19,” he added.

(And I’m also asking the Department of Education [DepEd] for the automatic passing of all the students for this school year because of the COVID-19.)
