UST Angelicum College cancels classes due to bomb scare

MANILA, Philippines — The University of Santo Tomas-Angelicum College in Quezon City suspended classes on Friday after receiving a bomb threat.

In an official statement, the Catholic school’s management asked parents and guardians to bring their children home after it announced class cancellation.

“For safety precautions, UST Angelicum College will be suspending classes today, March 6, 2020 due to a reported bomb threat. Please fetch your children as soon as possible at the Santo Domingo Church. For your information. Thank you,” read the statement.

According to a report from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the bomb scare was reported at 8:30 a.m. Personnel from the La Loma police station then responded to the incident five minutes after the bomb threat was reported.

The incident is still under investigation, as of posting.

Police investigators said an official from the school reported earlier of a suspicious comment at the school’s official Facebook page which read: “Bombs planted around the campus. Be safe. It will be triggered anytime.”

This prompted law enforcers to inspect the school and conduct safety recovery procedures at 9 a.m. After 50 minutes, police officers declared that there were no suspicious items found in the school.
