DOH: More symptomatic Filipino repatriates test negative for coronavirus

MANILA, Philippines — More symptomatic Filipino repatriates quarantined at the New Clark City Athletes’ Village in Tarlac have tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said.

“Meron na tayong total of 25 na repatriates na nagkaroon ng signs and symptoms pero ang maganda dito, 19 dun sa 25 ay naglabas na ng negatibong resulta sa laboratoryo sa COVID-19,” Vergeire said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer on Friday.

(We have a total of 25 repatriates who showed signs and symptoms but what’s good about this is 19 of the 25 tested negative for the coronavirus disease).

The Department of Health is waiting for the test results of the six remaining test samples sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa City.

On February 25, over 400 Filipinos evacuated from the coronavirus-hit Diamond Princess cruise ship arrived in the Philippines.

They were directly taken to the Athletes’ Village in New Clark City for the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
