P200,000 reward offered for info, suspects in failed assassination of DPWH engineer

DIGOS CITY—-Davao del Sur Vice-Governor Marc Douglas Cagas is dangling as much as P200,000 in reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects in the attack on a government engineer last March 2.

Cagas said P50,000 will be for those who could identify the motorcycle-riding gunmen, another P50,000 for the mastermind’s identity and the remaining P100,000 for law enforcers who could arrest all the suspects.

Engineer Nicomedes Parilla, of the Department of Public Works and Highways, and his driver, survived an attack on Monday (March 2) past 7 a.m. on Lapulapu Street in Digos City, just two blocks from his office.

Parilla and his driver suffered only superficial wounds.

The attack was carried out by two motorcycle-riding gunmen.

Col. Alberto Lupaz, Davao del Sur provincial police director, thanked Cagas for his reward offer.

He assured anyone who will provide information that their identities will be treated with utmost confidentiality to protect them.

Police have distributed a sketch of one of the suspects, based on witnesses’ accounts.

One witness described one suspect as around 5’4” in height and at least 60 kilograms in weight with a slim build and dark brown skin. The suspect spoke Cebuano.

This same suspect sported a black jacket, long trousers and a black cap with red stripes during the ambush, according to an intelligence report.

Lupaz said any information on the suspects can be relayed to police through mobile phone number 0998-967-4146.
