MANILA, Philippines — Journalist Arlyn dela Cruz of Radyo Inquirer is holding a second run of her “Hindi Ako Pintor” exhibit at the Winford Manila Resort and Casino.

The exhibit was formally opened on Feb. 20, 2020 and will run until March 20, 2020, coinciding with the celebration of Women’s Month. It is installed on the second floor of Winford.

Dela Cruz had initially planned to only conduct a one-day exhibit but Jeffrey Evora, Winford President and Chief Operating Officer, had convinced her to extend it to one month.

“We actually believe in the Filipino talent so we will do whatever we can to help and support Filipino artists, sculptors and painters,” Evora said in a statement released on Wednesday.

“Winford has a lot of space that I think is wasted. As nice as it is, it would be nicer with artwork and that’s why we are opening our doors to all kinds of artists,” he added.

Dela Cruz suffered from a stroke last June 2019 and as part of her recovery process, she started to paint. It was through painting that she was able to fully regain her motor skills.

She thanked her friend, actress Elizabeth Oropesa, for encouraging her to try painting.

“If it was not for her, I don’t think I would have the courage to start painting and stage this art exhibit,” Arlyn said in her remarks during the opening of her first exhibit in January.

“I turned to painting to relax and recover from my health issues and after surviving colon cancer and a stroke, I realized that life is a celebration and that I should take this opportunity to do the things I want to do,” she added.

Dela Cruz held her first exhibit at Movida Fashion + Food Club along P. Burgos Street, Poblacion, Makati City, last January.

Most of her artwork featured women.
