MANILA, Philippines — Alchie Paray, the former security guard who held 60 to 70 people hostage in a mall in Greenhills, San Juan City will face frustrated murder, illegal detention and other charges, police said on Wednesday.
The San Juan City Police filed a complaint frustrated murder, illegal detention, violation of Republic Act 9516 or illegal possession of explosive device, violation of Republic Act 10591 or the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. 6 or the illegal possession of a bladed weapon against Paray.
The complaints against Paray were filed before the San Juan Prosecutor’s Office, police added.
On Monday, Paray disrupted operations of V Mall, San Juan and held hostage dozens of people, mostly mall employees.
After 10 hours, the former security guard released the hostages. He then aired to members of the media and the public his frustrations over supposed corruption involving the mall’s security personnel.
Paray was eventually arrested and is currently detained at the San Juan police station custodial facility.
