MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Appointments’ Committee on National Defense swiftly approved on Wednesday the nomination of the newly-appointed commanding general of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), Lieutenant General Allen Paredes.
Paredes was appointed last January.
No question was asked when the PAF chief faced the committee.
“Mr. Chairman I’m tempted to ask questions pero medyo classified…” Senator Panfilo Lacson said.
Since no committee member questioned the nominee, the panel proceeded with the approval of Paredes’ nomination for plenary consideration.
Aside from the PAF chief, the panel also recommended for confirmation the ad interim appointments and nominations of four other senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Brigadier Generals John Oberio and Ramon Guiang, Major General Eric Vinoya and Commodore Carlo Sabarre.
The confirmation of the five military officials has yet to be approved at the CA plenary.
