Group urges Aquino gov’t to invest in books, instead of weapons
MANILA, Philippines—”Books, not bullets.”
Anakbayan chair Vencer Crisostomo described as “ridiculous” the Aquino administration’s plan to buy second-hand US military equipment.
“The plan should be vigorously exposed by the Filipino people, especially the youth,” said Crisostomo.
In a text message, the militant youth leader chided the government for allegedly “claiming it does not have funds for education and other much-needed social services.”
“Now, it seems it has money for weapons and war. Public funds should instead be allotted to education and social services… Books, not bullets! Social services, not war!” Crisostomo told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
