A couple is stopping supposed thieves from sneaking into their home in California, USA, with the help of a motion-activated sprinkler.

Josh Camarena decided to use the sprinkler to protect his house after dealing with burglars for the past year, ABC-affiliate KFSN reported last Saturday, Feb. 29. He cited that one stranger tried to check the back of his truck, while another attempted to break his backyard lock.

He initially used a floodlight to scare off the would-be thieves, but learned that it was not effective. Josh’s wife, Katie, then browsed the internet for a new solution. She later found a motion-activated sprinkler that sprays water at anything in its line of sight.

The machine is usually used to keep stray animals out of one’s yard, Josh told the news outlet. However, they decided to try it to deter people who would try to sneak into their home.

When the sprinkler arrived at their house, Josh placed it in a bucket and put it at the back of his truck. The machine proved to be useful when a supposed thief rolled up to their home at around 5 a.m. on Feb. 25.

Once the person neared the truck positioned in front of the house, the sprinkler began spraying a stream of water in their direction. Katie uploaded security footage of the machine in action on her Facebook page on Feb. 28, noting that the sprinkler had an “impressive amount of pressure.”

We have been having issues with people coming into our neighborhood to try and steal tools out of vehicles (And anything else they can get their hands on) Our flood light didn’t seem to scare them off, so we decided to have a little fun with a motion activated sprinkler that has an impressive amount of pressure 😂💦*Feel free to share the video if you, or someone you know is having the same problem!*Many have asked where it’s from. Just got it on Amazon! Here’s the link:https://amzn.to/2PRcGu3 and https://amzn.to/3ctLDyD

The supposed thief immediately turned around on his bike and left the couple’s home after he got sprayed by the sprinkler. According to the report, the Camarenas have not had any more trouble with thieves since they installed the motion-activated tool. Ryan Arcadio /ra
