MANILA, Philippines—A youth foundation led by actor Dingdong Dantes on Friday handed over school supplies to the Department of Education for its efforts in supporting students in Northern Mindanao areas worst hit by floods spawned by Tropical Storm “Sendong.”

Dantes’ Yes Pinoy Foundation and Sterling Paper Products turned over to DepEd some 5,000 notebooks to help students in Iligan and Cagayan de Oro cities as they return to classes despite the devastation caused by floods just a week before Christmas Day.

DepEd pushed for resumption of classes in storm-hit areas on Jan. 3 even as ravaged communities struggled to cope in the aftermath of the disaster in hopes of restoring normalcy.
