DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur, Philippines – A relative finally came forward to identify body found floating near the shorelines in Sitio Uwangon, Barangay Cogon here.
Alaine Hemoroz Arellano, 35, a welder, arrived at a funeral parlor, where the police had taken the body and identified it to be that of his younger brother Daryle Arrellano, 33, said Lt. Colonel Vici Anthony Tababa, the officer-in-charge of the Digos City Police Station.
Fishermen found the body floating naked along the coastline at 1:48 pm on Thursday, Feb. 27, prompting them to call the police for help.
The police brought the body to the St. Peter Funeral Parlor since no one in the village could yet identify it.
A few hours later, Arellano, a resident of Purok Camanchiles in Barangay San Jose, arrived and identified the body, 33.
Arellano said his brother had been having mental health issues since childhood. But he added he had no idea yet how he reached the place where he was found floating.
Police could not yet find signs of foul play in the death.
