Nonregular QC gov’t workers to get P13K a month

/ 05:04 AM February 28, 2020

By next month, around 4,400 contractual and job order employees of the Quezon City government’s executive department will be getting a monthly salary of P13,000, the legal minimum pay prescribed by the labor department. Mayor Joy Belmonte signed Memorandum Circular No. 4, S. 2020 that raised employees’ salaries to a “livable” rate with the city allocating P201 million for the wage hike. Belmonte said a review of the city hall’s roster of employees revealed that some of them, particularly community health workers, were getting only as much as P8,000 despite working for 40 hours or more per week. Under the new memorandum, nonplantilla contractual and job order personnel classified as administrative clerical and nontechnical employees and who work up to 40 hours a week will get P13,000 per month. Nurses, medical technologists, veterinarians, computer programmers and accountants classified as professional-technical employees will receive a monthly pay of P20,000. On the other hand, professional-highly technical personnel such as lawyers and doctors will be paid P35,000 monthly. —Mariejo S. Ramos
