According to the 2018 National Migration Survey released recently by the Philippine Statistics Authority, 12 percent of Filipino households had a member who was or had been an overseas Filipino worker (OFW). Among regions, the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao had the highest percentage (24 percent) of households with current or former OFWs, followed by Cagayan Valley (22 percent), and the Ilocos region (18 percent).  In contrast, Caraga (5 percent), Mimaropa (7 percent) and Central Luzon (7 percent) had the lowest percentages. In the National Capital Region, 17 percent of households had current or former OFWs. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
