MPD to file new criminal case vs robber as noodle vendor dies

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Police District (MPD) will file an additional robbery with homicide case against the man who robbed and shot a noodle vendor, who already died in the hospital on Wednesday.

In a press conference at Ermita police station, MPD chief Bernabe Balba said they are currently arranging with the court the filing of the additional case against Alexander Ogdamina, who was arrested a day after noodle vendor Samson Bautista was shot on February 18. Ogdamina is now detained at the MPD Headquarters.

Bautista was hospitalized for eight days after being shot at close range by Ogdamina.

The victim was parking his food cart along Bayani Street in Baseco Compound, Port Area, in Manila when Ogdamina tried to seize Bautista’s bag where he would keep his day’s earnings for selling hot noodle soup.

Bautista refused to yield to the robber’s demands so Ogdamina shot him.

Police initially filed robbery, frustrated murder, and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition against Ogdamina.
