CEBU CITY –– At least P6 million worth of fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted in a mountain village in Cebu City on Tuesday.
Personnel of the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) of the City Police Office found the 15,000 stalks of marijuana in three separate plantations in Sitio Mangabon, Barangay Tagbao.
Lieutenant Colonel Randy Korret, CMFC chief, said this was the biggest marijuana haul in Cebu City this year.
Policemen were investigating the identity of the marijuana plantation owner/s.
The “cultivator/s” will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Korret said they received a tip about a plantation in Tagbao.
“We had difficulty finding these plantations. The area is very steep and the marijuana plantations were behind bamboo trees,” he said.
Korret said the bamboo trees were used as camouflage so that the marijuana plantations would be hard to find.
“We used drones when searching for the marijuana plantations but we didn’t see anything because there were bamboos,” he said.
The police official said they were also advised by the Cebu Provincial Police Office to be cautious because there were reports that the marijuana plantations have traps.
“We’re glad that we were able to discover these marijuana plantations. After many attempts, we finally uprooted and seized these plants,” Korret said.
