MANILA, Philippines — Several veterans and supporters of the 1986 People Power uprising gathered Tuesday to commemorate the bloodless revolution that ousted former president Ferdinand Marcos.
Among those present were former Vice President Jejomar Binay, former Senator Rene Saguisag, and members of the August Twenty One Movement (Atom).
The attendees offered flowers before the the monument of former senator Benigno Aquino Jr. at the corner of Paseo de Roxas and Ayala Avenue in Makati City.
The veterans also sang “Bayan Ko,” one of the People Power anthems that was popularized by the opposition during the Marcos regime.

The bloodless revolution happened after the death of Aquino, a staunch critic of the Marcos leadership.
Ninoy’s wife, Cory, became one of the faces of the revolution and replaced Marcos following his ouster.
