Cop survives gun attack, but seriously wounded in Lucena

LUCENA CITY – A police officer survived a gun attack by a lone assailant here on Monday (Feb. 24).

Lt. Romulo Albacea, Lucena police chief, said MSgt. Louie Vargas, 41, was seriously wounded in the attack, however.

Vargas was driving a motorcycle when he was shot by a still unidentified assailant at the village of Gulang Gulang past 10 a.m. The gunman fled on foot.

Bystanders rushed Vargas to the Quezon Medical Center some 300 meters away from the site of the attack.

Albacea said Vargas suffered gunshot wounds in the head and body.

Police are doing their job investigating.
