LEGAZPI CITY — The Department of Agriculture (DA) has reported new cases of African swine fever (ASF) in two Camarines Sur towns where pigs showed ASF symptoms.
In a statement, Rodel Tornilla, DA Bicol regional director, confirmed that the DA’s Regional Quick Response Team (RQRT) found several pigs had died in the villages of Sta. Lucia, Sto. Tomas, San Miguel, San Pantaleon and Sta. Rosa in Magarao town with “pathognomonic signs and lesions suggestive of ASF.”
There were also same cases reported in the village of Balongay in Calabanga. Last Saturday, the RQRT has marked the village of Sta. Salud as “ground zero or point of referencefor determining the quarantine, surveillance, and control zones based on the 1-7-10 protocol as biosafety measures.”
Last Feb. 20, the DA has confirmed that results of tests conducted on pigs that died in Bombon, Camarines Sur were positive for ASF.
