IPU tackles cases filed by leftist legislators

MANILA, Philippines — The Geneva-based Inter-Parliamentary Union has decided to consider the harassment complaints of party-list Representatives France Castro (ACT Teachers) and Sarah Jane Elago (Kabataan) after the cases were found to be admissible for investigation by the group’s committee on human rights of parliamentarians.

But the committee took no action on the complaints of former ACT Teachers Rep. Antonio Tinio and former Anakpawis Rep. Ariel Casilao because the charges have already been dismissed.—Melvin Gascon
