Tricycle driver dead, 2 hurt in Quezon road accidents

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – A tricycle driver died and two workers were injured in two separate road accidents in San Andres and Pagbilao towns in Quezon province on Friday, reports said Saturday.

Tricycle driver Ryan Quintano, 38, was negotiating a provincial road when his vehicle was accidentally bumped by a dump truck being driven by Marlon Catapia in Barangay Camflora around 5:20 p.m., report from Quezon police said.

Quintano sustained grave injuries and died while being taken to the municipal health center.

Police said Catapia lost control of his vehicle when its spring leaf broke down. The wayward truck consequently hit the incoming tricycle.

The truck driver was detained at the local police jail.

In Pagbilao, two construction workers, Jay-ar Lomeda and Albert Azur, accidentally fell from a truck they were riding in Barangay Palsabangon around 6 p.m.

Report said the door of the truck suddenly opened causing the victims to fall on the pavement and suffer injuries.
The victims were taken to the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City.
