Woman shot dead while chatting with male friends

A woman was killed while two of her friends were hurt after two men shot them in front of her house Wednesday night in Quezon City. Rosella Canoy, 52, of Maligaya Park in Novaliches, died around 7:45 p.m. while being treated at Commonwealth Hospital. Case investigator Police Officer 2 Rommel Mayo of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said Canoy’s friends, Joseph Guerrero and Del James Resuello, both 18, sustained gunshot wounds but survived the attack. The three were chatting in front of Canoy’s house when two armed men suddenly appeared and shot Canoy. Resuello tried to fight back but was shot in the back. Guerrero was hit in the body by a stray bullet. The two gunmen then escaped on two motorcycles where their two companions were waiting for them.—Julie M. Aurelio
