117 kilos of meat seized in Naga City

LEGAZPI CITY –– At least 117 kilos of beef and pork meat were confiscated by members of the Task Force African Swine Fever at the bus station in Naga City on Tuesday morning.

Jaime Haicon of the Naga City Veterinary Office said 25 kilos of beef and 92 kilos of pork legs (“pata”) suspected to be infected with African swine fever were transported through a passenger bus from Metro Manila and arrived at the Bicol Central Bus station in Barangay Triangulo around 5:30 a.m.

Also seized were four fowl heads and eight crates of quail eggs, suspected to be infected with Avian flu.

The confiscated items were brought to the Bureau of Animal Industry, and the National Meat Inspection Service for proper disposition and disposal.
