Marijuana plants worth P2.9M destroyed in Benguet

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet –– Anti-narcotics agents on Monday uprooted and burned over 12,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P2.9 million in two separate areas in Benguet province.

One of the plantations is a 2,380-square meter land at Sitio Taleb in Barangay Banangan of Sablan town, where at least 11,900 marijuana plants, with an estimated value of more than P2.3 million, were discovered.

The other plantation is at Sitio Tuba in Barangay Wangal here, where the 2,750 marijuana plants worth P550,000, were destroyed.

No one was arrested in the operations carried out by the local police, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Cordillera, and the Benguet Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit.
