LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – A suspected drug pusher was killed, while three others were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte on Monday night.
In Camarines Sur, police officers were about to serve a search warrant for illegal drugs and illegal firearms on Noel Niebres when a shootout erupted in Barangay Topas Proper in Nabua town at around 6:15 p.m., a report from Captain Efren Dela Cruz, chief of the Nabua police said.
According to the report, as authorities were approaching Niebres’ house, he rushed inside his house and opened fire with a caliber .38 revolver, forcing the operatives to shoot back.
Niebres was taken to a hospital but died on the way.
Police recovered from the suspect 20 small heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu (crystal meth).
In Camarines Norte, Francis Idaloy, Glenn Ricafrente, and Shelley Marie Alvarez, were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mancruz in Daet town at around 11:59 p.m., said Col. Marlon Tejada, Camarines Norte police chief.
Idaloy was included in the recalibrated illegal drug personalities in the Bicol region, police said.
Recovered from the three were eight small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu with a street value of P4,500.
