Landmine blast in Sulu kills 1 child, injures another
MANILA, Philippines—A child died and another was injured after a landmine, planted by still unidentified person, went off in Sulu, police said Thursday.
Chief Superintend Agrimero Cruz Jr., Philippine National Police spokesman, said that the two 9-year-old children were walking on a road in Barangay Niangkaan, Omar, Sulu, around 1 p.m. Wednesday when the landmine they stepped on exploded.
Cruz Jr. said that one of the two children died on the spot, while the other was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Jamie Marie Elona
