Filipina repatriated from Wuhan showing signs of anxiety

MANILA, Philippines — A 25-year-old woman who was among the 32 repatriated Filipinos from Wuhan in China’s Hubei province would be referred to the Bataan General Hospital after showing signs of anxiety.

Dr. Maria Rosario Vergeire, assistant secretary of the Department of Health (DOH), said it has not been established yet if the signs being exhibited by the woman was related to the ongoing quarantine or her previous stay at the ground zero of the virus outbreak.

“Dadalhin sya sa ating isang hospital kung saan may mga eksperto  (She will be brought to a hospital where there are experts), psychiatrists that could assist the patient,” Vergeire said in a press briefing.

The health official said the woman was not able to sleep in consecutive days and seemed restless since the repatriates arrived on Sunday.

Aside from the woman, another 25-year-old woman was admitted to the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in Pampanga after exhibiting fever and ear pain.

“The patient has tested negative for the 2019-nCoV (novel coronavirus now named COVID-19) and was managed as a case of outer ear infection,” said Vergeire.

She was brought back to the Athletes’ Village in New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac that serves as a quarantine area for the repatriates for 14 days. The quarantine period will end on February 23.
