MANILA, Philippines — Entries for the Metro Manila Summer Film Festival (MMSFF) will be accepted until Feb. 15 (Saturday), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), organizer of the film festival said Friday.
In a statement, the MMDA said the selection committee for the MMSFF, which will begin in April this year, is now evaluating a number of film entries.
The committee will choose only eight official entries based on the following criteria: artistic excellence (40 percent), commercial appeal (40 percent), Filipino cultural sensibility (10 percent) and global appeal (10 percent).
The MMDA said student filmmakers may also submit their entries for the MMSFF’s Student Short Film Competition until Feb. 28.
The film competition for students, which has the theme of Pinoy Pride, will use the following criteria: artistic excellence (70 percent), Filipino cultural sensibility (20 percent) and global appeal (10 percent).
The official entries of the MMSFF will be announced on March 2 while its screening will be from April 11 to April 21, MMDA said.
The Parade of Stars for the summer film festival, which is hosted by the Quezon City government, will be held on April 5. The parade, which will showcase floats carrying celebrities who star in the film, will start from the Welcome Rotonda in Quezon Avenue to the Quezon Memorial Circle.
