Use of motorcycles as PUVs recommended

/ 05:26 AM February 14, 2020

The Senate committees on public services and local government have recommended the use of motorcycles as public utility vehicles, which is seen as one step closer toward legitimizing the operations of ride-hailing applications for two-wheeled vehicles.

“We are inching closer to having a law that will make motorcycle taxis a part of our public transportation system,” said Sen. Grace Poe, chair of the public services committee.

Poe released the joint committee report that proposes to amend the Land Transportation and Traffic Code to allow and regulate the use of motorcycles as public utility vehicles. —Leila B. Salaverria
