Motorcycle taxi drivers excluded from DoTr-TWG master list to be apprehended – MMDA
MANILA, Philippines – Starting this Thursday, motorcycle taxi drivers who are not in the master list of the Department of Transportation’s Technical Working Group (DOTr-TWG) will be apprehended, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.
“Iisa-isahin namin yung mga [driver] na ‘yan na wala sa master list, huhulihin namin kayo,” MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia warned drivers in a press conference.
(We will check the drivers one by one and those are not who in the master list will be apprehended.)
The DOTr-TWG earlier imposed a 63,000 biker cap for all transport network company (TNC) participating in the test run— 15,000 for each TNC in Metro Manila, 3,000 each for Metro Cebu and 3,000 each for Cagayan de Oro.
The master list, Garcia said, will be provided by DOTr-TWG chairman Antonio Gardiola.
“So kung ang pangalang ‘yan, wala sa master list na binigay ni General [Antonio] Gardiola, huhulihin namin kayo,” he added.
(So if a driver is not part of the master list given by General Gardiola, we will apprehend him.)
Garcia explained how MMDA enforcers will apprehend erring drivers.
“Pag nagbaba [yung driver ng pasahero], titignan natin yung lisensya niya, so yung lisensya niya, pag nakita, ira-radyo lang sa Metrobase. Kung wala ang pangalan niya dun, colorum siya,” he explained.
(If the driver drops off a passenger, he will be asked for his driver’s license. Pertinent dat in the driver’s license will be referred to the Metrobase. If that drivers name is not on the list, he is considered as colorum.)
“So I’m warning, Angkas, MoveIt and JoyRide, kung 15,000 lang ang binigay sa inyong listahan, make sure it’s 15,000 nothing more,” Garcia warned.
“Kasi we will apprehend lahat ng naka-uniporme na [driver] at wala sa master list, i-impound namin yung mga motorsiklo niyo kasi puro kayo colorum.”
(So I’m warning Angkas, MoveIt, and JoyRide, make sure you only have 15,000 riders each, and nothing more. Because we will apprehend those uniformed drivers who are not on the master list. We will impound their motorcycles.)
