LGUs told: Enforce zoning plan to contain ASF

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday told over 1,500 local executives, local government units (LGUs) and concerned national government agencies to “strictly enforce” the national zoning and movement plan aimed at controlling and containing the spread of African swine fever (ASF).

The order came as several LGUs continue to implement their own contingency plans to keep the viral hog disease away from their local livestock industry, noting that the national zoning plan may not be enough to manage the spread of the ASF virus.
