Pangasinan has 1st case of PUI for COVID-19

DAGUPAN CITY –– The first case of a patient under investigation (PUI) for possible coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection in Pangasinan province was admitted to the regional hospital here on Monday, local health officials said on Tuesday.

The patient, a 28-year-old woman from Lingayen town, went to the hospital due to a lingering cough. She was immediately isolated.

The hospital assigned a medical team to handle the patient.

The doctor-in-charge of the patient said the PUI was experiencing flu-like symptoms on Feb. 4, days before traveling to Taiwan.

The woman said her condition worsened on Feb. 8, the day she was to return to Taiwan, the doctor said.

While the patient was already manifesting the symptoms, the doctors decided to still admit her.

The doctor said the woman was immediately isolated in the hospital and was considered a PUI, so she would not expose herself to the public.
