Pasig City government regularizes 109 more city hall employees

MANILA, Philippines — Another 109 “contractual” employees working at the Pasig City Hall will now be enjoying their regular employee status, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the 30-year-old mayor added that between January to February 2020, some 163 city hall employees have now been regularized.

“Ang bawat isa sa 163 na ito, mahigit 20 na taon nang contractual [employees] sa City Hall. May iba, naabutan pa si Mayor [Emiliano Caruncho Jr.],” Sotto said.

(Everyone of these 163 people, has been a contractual employee of the City Hall for over 20 years. Some even served during the time of Mayor Emiliano Caruncho Jr.

Previously, the city mayor said he had regularized 53 employees, including one who has been working for city hall for the past 43 years.

The Pasig City mayor added that there was “no politics” involved in the city hall employees’ regularization.

“[T]initingnan lang kung kwalipikado’t maayos ang track record. Pinapatay natin ang palakasan o ‘patronage’ sa pamahalaan,” he said.

(We’re just looking at their qualifications and their good track record. We’re killing the system of patronage in the government.)

“Inaayos na rin natin ngayon ang Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) ng HR (human resource) at programa para sa professional development,” he added.

(We are also taking care of the Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) of HR and the program for professional development.)
