Only 1st batch of Wuhan Pinoys may be quarantined at Clark facility, says BCDA exec

TARLAC CITY—The 30 Filipinos flown back from Wuhan, China on Sunday may be the first – and only batch to be quarantined at New Clark City’s (NCC) Athletes’ Village, an official of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) said on Monday.

BCDA Vice President Arrey Perez  said the national government had only asked them to prepare the quarantine site for the Filipinos who arrived at Clark Air Base over the weekend from Wuhan, the epicenter of the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak.

“The future batches of repatriates may be quarantined at another facility. The decision depends on the government,” Perez told reporters here at the sidelines of the 29th Philippine National Police’s Foundation Day Celebration at the Tarlac Police Provincial Office.

Close to 100 police officer have been deployed around NCC, which is on lockdown.

After the 14-day quarantine period for the returning Filipinos, Perez said the Athletes’ Village is scheduled to be used for the 2020 Asean Para Games by March or April.
