MANILA, Philippines — The director of the Southern Police District has been reassigned as the new deputy director for operations of the National Capital Region Office (NCRPO), the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Friday.
SPD chief Brig. Gen. Nolasco Bathan will be replacing Brig. Gen Albert Ferro who was reassigned as the Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 7 in Central Visayas. Col. Emmanuel Peralta was designated as SPD acting district director.
The SPD covers the cities of Makati, Pasay, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Taguig, Las Piñas and the municipality of Pateros.
Meanwhile, Col. Lawrence Cajipe was reassigned as the acting Provincial Director of the Bulacan Provincial Police Office.
The reassignment order is effective Feb. 6, 2020, the PNP said.
In a press conference on Friday, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) acting chief Debold Sinas denied allegations that Bathan was relieved over his failure to curb illegal gambling operations in the areas covered by the SPD.
Sinas added that Bathan was chosen to replace Ferro because he is one of the senior district directors.
“Generl Bathan was relieved not because of anything, it so happened na kasama siya sa limited movement ng senior officers ng PNP,” Sinas said.
“As far as I’m concerned, I was informed by the Chief PNP to relieve Bathan as a replacement of General Ferro,” Sinas said.
