Motorcycle rider with ‘shabu’ busted in Lucena

LUCENA CITY –– Police arrested a suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) peddler in a checkpoint in this city Thursday.

Motorcycle rider Rodolfo Bas Jr., 42, was flagged down in a routine checkpoint during the implementation of “Oplan Magilas” in Barangay Ilayang Iyam around 12:30 p.m., Lt. Colonel Romulo Albacea, Lucena police chief, said in a report.

As the suspect was about to show his driver license, at least six plastic sachets of shabu suddenly popped out from his wallet. The illegal drugs were worth P5,660 in the local street market.

Police found out that the suspect was included in the list of identified street level drug pushers in the city.

The suspect was detained at the local police jail and is facing charges for violation of Section 5 and 11, Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
