DepEd orders schools to avoid ‘crowding’ of students

TACLOBAN CITY — Avoid “crowding” of students.

This was the directive of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Eastern Visayas amid the scare of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCov).

DepEd Regional Director Ramir Uytico said the holding of the flag raising ceremonies should now be held inside classrooms instead of the regular venue, which is at the school grounds.

All big gatherings scheduled within this month are also temporarily canceled, Uytico added.

If the situation does not improve by next month, the possibility of holding the graduation rites earlier than originally scheduled is not remote.

For this school year, graduation exercises is set from March 30 to April 3.

“This will depend on the situation in the succeeding weeks,” Jasmin Calzita, DepEd regional information officer said.
