PNPA: No visitors for cadets amid nCoV jitters

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) has suspended the privilege of cadets to receive visitors amid the threat of the 2019 novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease (2019-nCoV ARD).

“Effective today, visitations for cadets is suspended until further notice as ordered by PNPA Director PMGen Chiquito Malayo,” PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said in a statement Tuesday night.

He said all personnel entering the academy are required to wear face masks.

They will also be subjected to temperature checks prior to entry, Banac added.

As of 12 noon Tuesday, the Department of Health (DOH) said it has assessed 105 persons for 2019-nCoV. This number includes the Chinese couple who earlier tested positive for the virus.

In the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna,Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region, where the PNPA is located, there are four patients under investigation being strictly monitored by the DOH for possible 2019 nCoV infection and are currently in isolation in hospitals.
