MANILA, Philippines — The number of patients under investigation (PUIs) for the novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease (2019-nCoV ARD) in Metro Manila has reached 27 as of 12 noon of February 3, the Department of Health (DOH) reported in its website.
Of this number, 22 are still confined in hospitals while two have been discharged after testing negative for the 2019-nCoV. This count likewise includes the 2 fatalities earlier reported by DOH: the 29-year-old Chinese man from Yunnan who died January 29 due to pneumonia and tested positive for HIV but negative for the 2019-nCoV, and the 44-year-old Chinese man from Wuhan who succumbed to severe pneumonia caused by the 2019-nCoV on February 1. Further, this figure includes the 38-year-old Chinese woman tagged as the first case of 2019-nCoV in the Philippines.
These 27 PUIs in Metro Manila are included in the 80 PUIs being strictly monitored by DOH since February 3.

Following Metro Manila in the list of regions with the most number of PUIs was Central Luzon with 15 patients; Central Visayas with 11, including one already discharged; Western Visayas with eight, including five already discharged; and Northern Mindanao and Davao Region with five patients each, including one patient discharged each.
Mimaropa, meanwhile, has four PUIs, Ilocos Region has three, and Cagayan Valley and Eastern Visayas have one each.
PUIs still confined in hospitals have been put in isolation, DOH said.
