Rains expected over parts of PH due to northeast monsoon

MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or “amihan” is expected to bring rainshowers over a big part of the country on Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported.

The state weather bureau said cloudy skies with light rainshowers are forecast over Cordillera Adminstrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, and provinces of Aurora, Quezon due to northeast monsoon.

Isolated light rainshowers are also expected over Metro Manila.

Eastern Visayas, meanwhile, will also experience light rainshowers while isolated light rainshowers are expected over Central and Western Visayas.

The effects of northeast monsoon is also seen to reach Mindanao, bringing cloudy skies and possible light rainshowers over Caraga and Davao Region.

Despite this, Pagasa said no storms being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Pagasa said gale warning is raised over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Isabelo, Aurora, Northern Quezon including Polilio Islands, southern coast of Oriental Mindoro, Camarines Norte, northern coast of Camarines Sur, northern and eastern coasts of Catanduanes, easter coast of Albay, eastern coast of Sorsogon, northern and eastern coast of Northern Samar, eastern coast of Eastern Samar, eastern coast of Dinagat Islands, eastern coast of Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Siargao Island.
