MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways said will look into the cause of the collapse of a portion of the Skyway Stage 3 which happened during a fire that broke out in a warehouse in Pandacan, Manila.
“Minomitor na namin ngayon. Iniimbestigahan namin yung cause ng pag-collapse ng Skyway [We are monitoring the fire and investigating what caused the Skyway to collapse.],” DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said over dzMM.
Villar said they will also investigate the structural integrity of the elevated expressway, which was constructed to cut travel time between southern and northern Metro Manila.
Meanwhile, Villar said the construction of the Skyway Stage 3 project could face delays. He however assured that the DPWH will implement measures to “minimize the delays in construction.”
The four-hour fire left P15 million worth in damage. No persons were reported hurt in the incident.
